Betsy Altmaier

Betsy was a professor in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Iowa for 35 years, but is now happily retired giving her time to volunteer with Faith Academy on the Academic Committee. 

Betsy is divorced and has two grown children: Kate (who is a worker on the mission field in Beirut, Lebanon) and Greg (who is a pastor of the Downtown Church in Des Moines). Betsy is also blessed with four grandchildren: Harper, Willow, Juniper, and Rivers. 

Betsy has been a member of New Life since 2019, and was elected as an elder in 2022.  She joined New Life because the members were so welcoming, and she understood the importance of having solid Biblical teaching as as well as developing disciples who are deeply committed to serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
