Sean Flanagan

Sean has served as Director of Worship Ministries since October of 2023. He is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Iowa where he is studying social work, psychology, and religious studies. Originally, Sean is from Rochelle, Illinois, but has made Iowa City his home over the last three years.

Sean recently got engaged to his fiancée Madison, and they are both very excited to join the NLCC family. In his free time, Sean loves spending time with friends and family over meals and board games. He is a big Chicago sports fan, and when he has time to himself, loves to watch movies and read books. Over the last three years, Sean gained his worship experience while working in college ministry, particularly Cru, (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ), serving as worship leader and small group leader.

Sean has been incredibly moved by seeing the heart that New Life has shown for being the hands and feet of the Church in their community. As worship director, Sean wants to see the members of the congregation embody a spirit of worship throughout their lives every day, not just as an action but as an attitude with which they go about their lives. Just as God calls us to sing out to the Lord (Jer 20:13), he also calls us to worship in spirit, recognizing the truth of God's mercy and our salvation by Christ (John 4:23).
